Alupheli Sithebe (“Alupheli”) is a qualified Chartered Accountant with a BComm Accountancy degree from the Rand Afrikaans University (since renamed University of Johannesburg). Alupheli also carries a BComm Honours (Accounting) degree from the University of South Africa. In 2014, Alupheli obtained an MBA qualification from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS).
Alupheli is a seasoned investment professional currently in the employ of African Phoenix Investments Limited, a JSE listed investment holding entity with a Private Equity investment mandate. This role entails deal origination, execution and monitoring of investee companies with a focus on holding equity positions and quasi-equity instruments. Prior to this role, Alupheli spent a year at Senatla Capital, a Private Equity firm as a Senior Associate fulfilling similar functions as with African Phoenix Investments Limited. Prior to becoming a Private Equity executive, Alupheli was a senior dealmaker at the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa (IDC) for a period of six years in the Heavy Manufacturing division. This role involved corporate financing via debt as well as equity instruments for both greenfield and brownfield ventures. In this role, Alupheli received the divisional “Best Employee Award” in recognition of excellence in December 2015 and was subsequently runner up in 2016 (in a division of 120 employees).
Alupheli has held a number of non-executive roles. This includes the role of Audit Committee Chairperson of the Companies Tribunal of SA (2012 to 2015), non-executive director of MPact Polymers (subsidiary of listed MPact Limited) during 2015 – 2017 and Auspex Hotels & Leisure Management (Radisson Blu Port Elizabeth) from 2015 – 2018.
